The Gingerbread Man Animation
Client: Student project
Challenge: Using Adobe Animate, animate 45+ seconds of a classic fairy tale with a title screen, SFX, and background music.
Description: I wanted to play more into the humorous side of this tale through expression changes, silly sound effects, and a more provoking, back-and-forth relationship between the animals and the Gingerbread Man than the usual story, which was very successful with my audiences.

Characters and Scenes
This was targeted towards young children, so I made sure the style of every asset was bright and engaging while not being overwhelmingly saturated.
The elderly couple are people of color on purpose; as a black woman who didn’t grow up with much representation in the animations and cartoons I watched as a child, I make it a goal to incorporate said representation into my designs (especially children’s design). Though they’re minor to the story, their inclusion is important as it challenges the usual depiction of fairy tale characters.
