Quote Typography

Client: Student project

Challenge: Pick a quote from a provided list to create a poster using creative typography.

Description: This is a redo from my first attempt at this project. I chose the Willem de Kerning quote, “Nothing is less clear than geometry.”

While my first try wasn’t completely unsuccessful, it was lacking in visual interest as well as proper harmony between the thin and thick typography. This time, I played fully into the quote’s claim that geometry is unclear by manipulating a heavily geometric typeface into a puzzle-like composition. The empty space, instead of being filled with a border like the old attempt, is negated by the addition of a texture overlay.
